PSG also under red alert

The Presidential Security Group (PSG) was placed on red alert as security around the Malacañang Complex and nearby streets were tightened. Brigadier Gen. Romeo Prestoza, PSG commander, assured that Palace security personnel are prepared. The development comes on the heels of the protest march of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Brigadier Gen. Danilo Lim in Makati City. Former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr had called the move as "the new EDSA" and a "new People Power." In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye said Mrs Arroyo's state visit to Spain and the United Kingdom will push through as planned. Mrs Arroyo was supposed to leave for Spain on Saturday night. "Tuloy yan (It will happen), this is a state visit," Bunye said. Earlier in the day, President Arroyo returned to Malacañang on board a helicopter from San Pedro City in Laguna. The Armed Forces of the Philippines was also placed under red alert earlier in the day. Armored personnel carriers, military trucks and troops have been deployed to Makati. - GMANews.TV
