PNP, AFP troops ready to take action vs Trillanes, Lim - Barias

After failing to convince members of the media and supporters of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim to leave the hotel, police Dir. Geary Barias on Thursday afternoon reiterated that government troops will effect the two officials' arrest by 3 p.m. Barias, who was barred by Magdalo soldiers from going to the hotel's second floor where Trillanes and Lim are holed up, said authorities are ready to enforce the court-issued arrest warrant against the two officers. Barias said police negotiators have already delivered the message for Trillanes and Lim to surrender peacefully. He noted that police and military troops are now on standby to "rearrest" the two. "We are prepared to undertake the next action – that is to effect arrest. We have a combined troop of AFP and PNP on standby... If there is resistance, we will undertake appropriate action against those who will resist," Barias said. "Appropriate action will be taken against those who are armed," he added. Barias noted that police has been in coordination with hotel staff to effect the evacuation of hotel guests in preparation for the anticipated serving of warrants of arrest against Trillanes and Lim. - GMANews.TV
