1 hurt as NPA rebels torch Aurora cell site

A village councilor was injured after suspected communist New People’s Army (NPA) rebels torched a cell site of Smart Communications in Aurora province before dawn Friday. Radio dzRH reported that at least 15 NPAs took village councilor Raul Daylo by surprise and forced him to douse gasoline on the cell site equipment. The incident occurred at Esteves village, where Daylo acted as caretaker of the cell site facility. Daylo said he was knocking off work before dawn when he noticed the lights at the cell site suddenly went out. When he returned inside, he was surprised to see the NPAs surrounding him, all poking firearms at him. Casiguran is a third-class town with a population of 21,459 people in 4,366 households. Only last weekend, suspected NPAs ambushed a group of soldiers near site where Sen. Edgardo Angara was launching a project. Angara denied he was a target of the NPAs. - GMANews.TV
