Anti-Arroyo group reiterates ‘resign’ call

A civil society group on Sunday reiterated its call for President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to step down. The Black and White Movement said that Mrs Arroyo should also take a closer look at why she lost the trust of the people who catapulted her to power in January 2001, during EDSA Dos, also known as the second people power uprising. “Kailangan mag-study siya kung bakit ang laki ng pagkawala ng tiwala ng tao. Walang may bilib diyan (Arroyo must study why there was a big loss of trust in her. No one trusts here anymore)," the group’s convenor, Leah Navarro said in an interview on dzXL radio. According to Navarro many Filipinos are now indifferent toward the Arroyo administration, which was linked to several alleged scandals involving graft and corruption. Navarro said that with such loss of respect, Mrs Arroyo would have no other choice but to step down. “Sa kanila balewala si Gloria, mag-resign na lang siya. Yan ang masama, di rin maganda yan, na walang tiwala at walang bilib at walang pakialam ang tao sa kanilang gobyerno," she said. “How are you going to rule if people don’t love you?" she added. - GMANews.TV
