President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo continued to distance herself from moves by her party-mates to oust Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. from his post.
Radio dzRH reported Thursday afternoon that deputy presidential spokeswoman Lorelei Fajardo said Mrs Arroyo has declined to comment on the mess as she had "already spoken."
Fajardo was referring to Mrs Arroyo's instruction to Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita last Saturday to "discourage" efforts to oust de Venecia from the Speaker's post.
At the time Mrs Arroyo gave her instructions, she was in the midst of a weeklong trip to Switzerland and Dubai.
On Wednesday night, members of Arroyo's Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino
(Kampi) met and agreed to support moves to oust de Venecia from his post.
Present at the meeting was presidential son Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo, a party-mate of de Venecia in the ruling Lakas party.
However, Fajardo would only say the Palace has had enough of politics, and that the politicking should stop. - GMANews.TV
