The Court of Appeals is set to hear Monday the testimony of Col. Melquiades Feliciano, the commanding officer of the Army unit implicated in the alleged abduction of agriculture activist Jonas Burgos.
Feliciano was the commanding officer of the 56th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army when Burgos was abducted April last year. The plate number of the vehicle reportedly used in the abduction was found in the said military unit's possession.
The military claimed the plate number was stolen while the vehicle it belonged to was impounded inside the camp.
Mrs. Edith Burgos, Jonas' mother, said Monday's hearing will be based on the petition for writ of amparo she filed before the Supreme Court last December.
The SC had granted the petition and asked the CA's 7th Division to conduct the investigation.
"We expect Col. Feliciano to testify on how was Jonas abducted, who was responsible, and where he is," Mrs Burgos said.
"Depending on the testimony of Col. Feliciano, we hope we will be able to convince the court to subpoena Gen. Hermogenes Esperon and Gen. (Alexander) Yano," she added. - GMANews.TV
