Brother disputes PNP, says no Lozada asked for protection

The brother of Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr, the missing witness in the ZTE broadband deal, denied on Wednesday the claim of National Police chief Dir. Gen. Avelino Razon that some members of the family sought protection for his brother. In a phone interview with GMANews.TV, Art Lozada said none among their 13 siblings asked the PNP to provide security for their brother, whom he calls Jun. "Tinanong ko mga kapatid ko. Wala raw sa kanilang nag-request ng security para sa kapatid namin (I asked my siblings. None of them said they requested for security for our brother)," Art said. Art, who filed a petition for amparo before the Supreme Court Wednesday, said he is yet to see Rodolfo. He added that his sister Carmen and Jun's wife, Violet, were able to see his brother late Tuesday evening. The meeting, however, was short as Jun was taken away again, Art said. "Nakita nila kagabi. Jun was brought to the place where they (Carmen and Violet) were staying. Pinakumusta lang tapos kinuha uli (He was brought to where Carmen and Violet were staying. He was allowed to say only a few words before he was whisked away again)," he said. Art added that according to Carmen, the men who were with Jun were wearing civilian clothes. He, however, admitted that they felt "comfortable" that the PNP had admitted that the ZTE witness is being held by the PNP. "Pangatawanan nila 'yan (They should stand by that)," he said.- GMANews.TV
