Fil-Chinese score Apostol for 'racist' remark on Lozada

The Filipino-Chinese community on Saturday scored chief presidential legal counsel Sergio Apostol for issuing what they called a "racist remark" against Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr., who testified in Senate on the controversial ZTE Corp. broadband network deal, according to a GMA Flash Report. In that report, Teresita Ang See of Kaisa para sa Kaunlaran Inc. was quoted as saying that Apostol’s remark that Lozada should be deported for causing trouble was unacceptable. In an interview on Friday with journalists covering the Palace, Apostol likened Lozada to a "crying lady" and added: “Bagay sa‘yo i-deport, magulo ka dito." Lozada, during his testimony in Senate, described himself as “simpleng probinsiyanong Intsik." Ang See said it is not Lozada who should be deported but corrupt government officials. She believed it would be good for the country if those who will be appointed to government post are the morally upright people even if they are of different nationality. She said Filipino-Chinese community believes the Filipinos are proud of Lozada’s courage in telling the truth. She said they are also proud of Lozada because very few Fil-Chinese could muster the courage to bare the anomalies in the government. - Amita Legaspi, GMANews.TV
