Explosion in Iligan City injures six - reports

At least six people were injured in an explosion that rocked a public plaza in Iligan City Sunday night, Visayas-based Bombo Radyo reported Monday morning. The report cited sketchy initial information indicating the explosion was near an abandoned gas station at the back of the city's public plaza. It said the six who were injured were among the people who panicked upon hearing the explosion and tried to run from the scene. City Mayor Laurence Cruz said authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the blast. He said there was no structural damage in the area. He refused to say if the blast was a terrorist act. A separate MindaNews report said the explosion took place at 9:20 p.m. The gas station site had been converted into a display area for furniture. It cited initial reports from the local radio identifying the injured as Junior Pabustan, 15; Dennis Barot, 17; Lovely Rose Tecson, 15; John Henry Natenga, 26; Arnel Unutan, 17; and Dixer Revelo, 19. The first four were admitted at the Don Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital while last two were treated at the Dr. Uy Hospital. - GMANews.TV
