I did not order setting up of camera at La Salle - Razon

There was no directive from the Philippine National Police headquarters to set up a surveillance camera overlooking the La Salle Greenhills campus in Mandaluyong City. This was confirmed Friday by National Police chief Director General Avelino Razon Jr, who said in a news conference in Camp Crame that he did not give the Eastern Police District instructions to set up the camera. "Wala. Di ko alam saan galing ang instructions (I don't know where the instructions came from)," Razon said, adding that he had already ordered an investigation into the matter. The EPD through its chief, Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo dela Cruz, had earlier admitted installing the surveillance camera in La Salle Greenhills, saying it is for traffic monitoring purposes. The installation of the cameras had raised suspicion particularly among supporters of ZTE witness Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr, who were to attend a mass at La Salle Greenhills Sunday. Though he admitted that cameras are usually installed along major thoroughfares and intersections for traffic and criminality-monitoring purposes, Razon said he sees no reason why a camera should be put in front of the La Salle Greenhills campus. Razon added that if the camera was for traffic monitoring purposes, it should be placed at the corner of EDSA and Ortigas Avenue. The PNP chief, however, assured that the PNP will not conduct a surveillance operation on Sunday's mass, which was called by former President Corazon Aquino. - GMANews.TV
