Janice, Gelli de Belen: More than SiS-ters

It’s hard being a career woman and a dedicated mother at the same time—but it’s not impossible. Actresses and hosts Janice and Gelli de Belen prove this true as they efficiently juggle their time with their family and profession—and deliver best what is expected of them. The SiS-ters believe it’s all about time management. “When your priorities are set straight already, naturally na 'yun eh," Janice points out. “Saka medyo madali naman for me because taped naman 'yung Sis eh. So the rest of the days go to our children." And on these rest days, these actress-mothers make sure they devote attention to their kids. Gelli picks her two boys up from school whenever she can, while Janice bonds with her kids by being on their level. “Alam mo, bata rin ako pag kasama ko 'yung mga anak ko," Janice confesses through the webcast on their iGMA Live Chat. “Pero of course, kapag makukulit na sila, you just have to call their attention." As three of the most successful mothers in the entertainment industry, the SiS-ters are thankful they have each other to count on. “What’s nice is we can share stories," Gelli says proudly. “Saka, ['yung mga] anong gamot sa ganito? Anong dapat gawin [kapag ganito]? Pwedeng pahiram ng costume sa ganyan?" “Saka nagse-share kami ng kalokohan. Nagse-share kami ng mga fears namin ni Gelli," Janice adds. Dealing with Kids As they watch their children grow in front of their very eyes, Janice and Gelli relish the joy of being hands-on parents. “The minute na sabihin sa’kin ng kids ko na, ‘Mama, I love you’, ‘Mama, you’re the best mom in the world’—hay naku, 'yun na ang greatest of the greatest [gifts], the most memorable of everything," Janice says with a smile. But child-rearing is not all laughs and smiles, and these mothers also occasionally deal with over-energetic kids. “It’s hard to raise children," says Gelli as-a-matter-of-factly. She then shares personal techniques when situations with her kids get too trying. “'Yung mga makukulit, I…sit them down or talk to them. Kailangan makuha mo 'yung undivided attention nila…mag-usap lang kayong maigi. Pag hindi nakikinig, pwedeng grounded for a certain period of time. Grounding works." In the Future Like any other parent, the Sis-ters want nothing but the best for their kids. stars“We essentially want the same things for our kids," the younger de Belen says. “'Yung lumaki sila nang maayos, makapag-tapos ng pag-aaral, [that] they be good, well-rounded, respectful human beings. It’s all we want. Wala naman kaming kakaibang ano [gusto]. Unless merong gustong maging president 'yung anak?" she asks with a grin, looking at her sister. “Walang ganun," Janice affirms. - iGMA.tv
