Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr., a key witness in the $329.48-million ZTE mess, got a hero's welcome at the University of the Philippines campus in Quezon City Friday afternoon.
Radio dzBB reported that students at the State University campus applauded as Lozada's convoy passed by.
Streamers welcoming Lozada were posted on the UP Malcolm Hall, which houses the College of Law. Lozada was to address the UP community in the evening.
Earlier, Lozada filed kidnapping charges against several police and government officials for his abduction upon his return from Hong Kong last Feb. 5.
Lozada received much support from various sectors for continuing to testify at the ZTE deal despite pressure from Malacañang and its allies.
Lozada's arrival came as about a thousand students from Ateneo Law, University of the East and the University of Santo Tomas gathered to form a new group called ASAR or Advocacy for Sustained Accountability and Reform.
ASAR, according to a GMA News Flash Report, was formed by the students to express their disgust over recent political events, especially the ZTE kickback scandals. - GMANews.TV
