Two suspected communist rebels were killed and a number of firearms were recovered following a clash with government forces in the northern Philippine province of Aurora Monday afternoon, a regional military commander said. About 4:30 p.m., elements of the Army's 69th Infantry Battalion engaged an undetermined number of New People's Army (NPA) insurgents at Sitio Maligaya, Tabas village in Casiguran town, said Armed Forces Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) chief Lt. Gen. Rodrigo Maclang. In a text message, Maclang said the operating troops recovered the two bodies of the slain rebels as well as three M16 rifles, an M14 rifle, various ammunition, magazines and subversive documents.
