Bobby Fischer's Pinay heir may get settlement

The lawyer for Marilyn Young, the Filipina heir of the late Bobby Fischer, believes that there is a very big possibility that a settlement could be reached on the estate left by the chess icon. In a press statement released on Tuesday, Samuel Estimo, said the discussions with the counsel of Fischer's long-time partner, Miyoko Watai of Japan, is going on as they have expected. According to Estimo, Watai's lawyer, Arni Vilhjalmsson, is also looking at a settlement at the Private Administration Level of the Probate Division, Office of the Reykjavik District Commissioner, in Iceland, where Fisher had been based until his death. Young has a daughter by Fischer named Jinky, who was born on May 21, 2001 in Baguio City. The Filipino lawyer added Fischer's daughter and his partner can split the 1.07 million pound deposited at Landbanski in gold deposits and the possible royalties from a film soon to be made on the chess legend's life. Estimo added that Birna Salome Bjornsdottir, Reykjavik deputy district commissioner, had confirmed that the claims of the heirs could be settled in a private administration to be conducted by her office after all supporting documents have been submitted. If no agreement can be reached, the matter will be elevated to the courts, which may require digging up Fischer's tomb for possible DNA testing. "Bobby will not like to get up and play another round of chess after he had already resigned that's why we will settle for a draw in the endgame over his estate," Estimo said. - GMANews.TV
