Rescue efforts on for 2 fishermen in Aurora province

MANILA, Philippines - Rescue efforts are underway for at least two fishermen who were reported missing after they and their colleagues encountered bad weather off Aurora province Thursday. Radio dzBB reported Thursday night that colleagues identified the missing fishermen as Avelino Villacorta, 72, and Constancio Millares, 48, both of Baler town in Aurora. The two were part of a group of fishermen who set sail aboard four boats at 7 a.m. from Baler. The group, however, turned back at noon when bad weather threatened them. It was only upon returning that the fishermen found Villacorta and Millares' boat was missing. The incident was a sad birthday for Millares' daughter Connie, who turned 14. Connie said she and her six siblings were praying for their father's safe return. Local police, soldiers and disaster management officials failed to find the two as of Thursday night, and will resume their search at daybreak Friday. - GMANews.TV
