Marquez confident, ready for Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines - Juan Manuel Marquez is prepared to face his biggest nightmare. "People will see a great fight. I will put everything in the ring. I will be ready when the bell rings until the end of the last round. I promise I won't disappoint you guys. I will be alert, I won't be overconfident." Marquez was quoted as saying this by thesweetscience.com in an article posted Thursday regarding his rematch with Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines on March 15 (March 16 in the Philippines). The Mexican fighter, however, admitted that Pacquiao has become a better fighter since they first met in 2004 but added that he too, has improved. Marquez added that his age will not be a factor. Marquez is 34 while Pacquiao is 29. "The age won't be an issue," he said. "I feel better than ever. I feel so strong, so prepared. The time is coming at the right time." Marquez also believes that he is technically a better boxer than Pacquiao, whom he believes is a faster pug than him. "He's very fast, very quick, very strong. All I can say is that I'm prepared for that." "I don't know how it will end," he added. "I'm confident what I've done in the gym. Mentally, physically, I'm ready, I know I will beat Manny Pacquiao." - GMANews.TV
