Model, 3 others found dead in Olongapo house

MANILA, Philippines - A model and three others were found dead following a fire that hit a three-story townhouse in Olongapo City before dawn Thursday. GMA 7's Unang Balita reported that one of the victims was identified as model Scarlet Garcia. Earlier radio reports initially identified the three others as George Vitug, Garcia's alleged live-in partner; and Rachel and Joaqui. The report said the men's bodies were found in the sala. The bodies sustained gunshot wounds. Sr. Supt. Abelardo Villacorta, head of the Olongapo City police, said they are looking into the possibility that the four were killed, and that the fire was an attempt at cover-up. For his part, Olongapo police Insp. Santos Candido said in an interview on dzBB radio earlier said Garcia and Vitug were allegedly the ones renting the townhouse. Candido said they received a report of the fire in progress at the three-story townhouse at 52-B Acacia St., Gordon Heights, at about 3:25 a.m. which authorities immediately put out. "Pagkatapos mapatay ang sunog, may nakita kami apat na unidentified bodies," Candido said in the interview. - GMANews.TV
