PDEA, NBI sign pact to boost fight vs illegal drugs

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday signed an agreement to enhance coordination in the continued drive against illegal drugs.

PDEA director general Dionisio R. Santiago, and NBI director Nestor M. Mantaring signed the agreement that spelled out how the two agencies would work together in the campaign against illegal drugs abuse.

Under the agreement, the NBI will assist the PDEA in collecting, processing, and analyzing information on illegal drug activities.

It will also maintain intelligence sharing and, upon request, assist in the drug enforcement agency’s intelligence gathering operations.

Moreover, the NBI will assist in counter-intelligence and investigation of the PDEA especially in regard to government personnel and/or public officer suspected or charged for involvement in the illegal drugs syndicates.

The two agencies will also conduct joint operations to enhance harmonious relationship to ensure efficient campaign against drug abuse. - GMANews.TV
