Baby thrown into Vigan dumpsite

MANILA, Philippines - Police in Ilocos Sur are now tracking down a heartless mother who dumped her lifeless baby boy in a dumpsite in Vigan City in Ilocos Sur Wednesday morning.

Radio reports said that garbage collectors found the baby stuffed inside a black plastic garbage bag in the dumpsite in Sitio Nalasin, Camanggaan village in Vigan.

City Environment and Natural Resources officer Glenn Concepcion said the three-kilo baby appeared newly born because the blood around his body was "fresh."

Concepcion said it was possible that the baby was still alive when he was dumped in the site "reserved" for garbage coming from the city's public market.

He and the garbage collectors brought the remains to the Vigan Cathedral for baptism and burial. - GMANews.TV
