Cops guard Quiapo Church for Pacquiao visit
MANILA, Phillippines - Police in Manila secured the Quiapo Church early Monday morning in time for World Boxing Council super featherweight champ Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao's visit there. Radio dzBB reported that the Manila Police District (MPD) deployed personnel to the area to protect Pacquiao, who was scheduled to attend the 9 a.m. mass there. It has been Pacquiao's habit to go to the Quiapo Church to hear mass after a bout, especially when he wins. Police holding hand-held radios told reporters covering Pacquiao's mass to "coordinate" with the church's administration office first. On the other hand, some parts of the church were turned into a fans' box as Pacquiao's male fans crowded the area to get a glimpse of their idol when he arrives. - GMANews.TV
