US Embassy: Website not 'defaced'

MANILA, Philippines - The United States Embassy in Manila on Friday denied that its Website was defaced Thursday.

"There was no indication that points to (the site being defaced)," Rebecca Thompson, US Embassy spokesperson, told GMANews.TV.

She said the strange characters that appeared on the Website Thursday afternoon were due to a "technical problem."

Strange characters filled up the US Embassy Website when visitors tried to access it Thursday.

The US Embassy Website is regularly updated and features activities and statements of US embassy officials. It also contains feature articles. - GMANews.TV
