Fire hits fireworks factory in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines - Arson investigators are now looking into the cause of a fire that
razed a fireworks factory in Cabuyao town in Laguna province Sunday afternoon.

Radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr reported that Laguna provincial police director Sr. Supt. Felipe Roxas identified the owner of the factory as one Vincent Letrilla.

Initial investigation showed the fire started at about 3:30 p.m. at the factory in Bigaa village in Cabuyao town in Laguna. Firefighters were able to declare the fire under control at 4 p.m.

Arson investigators have also started questioning some of Letrilla's workers on what happened before the fire broke out.

No one was initially reported killed or injured, but the thick smoke and explosions scared residents living near the factory, the report said.

Cabuyao is a first-class urban town with a population of 106,630 people in 22,552 households. - GMANews.TV
