Woman hurt, at least 8 homes razed in Cubao fire

(Updated 12:45 p.m.) MANILA, Philippines - At least one woman was reportedly wounded in a fire a residential area in Cubao, Quezon City Wednesday morning. Radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported that the fire at Benitez St., San Martin de Porres village in Cubao had reached the third alarm as of 10:50 a.m. A separate radio report said around eight to ten houses were gutted in the fire, while policemen began arriving at the scene to calm down panicking residents as well as to prevent unscrupulous people from looting the affected properties. The report also said that power lines in the area have not so far been shut down, as electric posts started emitting sparks, putting the lives of residents below in danger. A noontime report on dzEC radio said the fire reached Task Force Bravo before firefighters placed it under control past noon. By then, the fire had damaged houses in Areas 5 and 6 of the village, including those along Arayat, Zambales and Benitez Streets. - GMANews.TV
