Western Visayas shuttlers hot at debut in Prisaa tourney


BACOLOD CITY, Philippines - Desirous of making it in the finals in this year's National Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) meet in Zamboanga City, team-Western Visayas showcased an impressive start in the opener by posting double victories over Region 12 and CARAGA, the Sun.Star Bacolod reported Friday. Bannered by combined powers and talents of the Negros Occidental and Iloilo shuttlers, both the men and women's teams displayed superiority over the Mindanao opponents. Jean Vale, WV badminton team manager, expressed confidence they will reach the finals since the team is in good shape and prepared for the title quest. The Joy Robinson-mentored women's team is compose of Negros top lady feather artist Rosalie Soberano and Iloilo's Annelyn Alba, Lynette Esico and Malou Martinez. Like Vale, Robinson is confident they would eventually get the crown if the team continues to sparkle as the games progresses. Meanwhile, WV men's team also smashed Region 12 in their debut. Led by Iloilo's Ralph Nelson Cajandig and Negrenses Alex Borromeo, Salvador Diesmo Jr. and George Mahinay Jr., Vale and Robinson are working together to bring out the most from their boys and challenged them to give their best shots in their games.- Sun.Star Bacolod
