Arroyo goes to St. Luke's for ‘regular checkup’

MANILA, Philippines - President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo went to the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City around noon Friday to undergo a regular checkup. Radio dzBB's Aileen Intia reported Friday afternoon that Presidential Security Group head Brig. Gen. Romeo Prestoza said the President visited the hospital for a regular medical checkup, and downplayed speculations about President Arroyo's health. President Arroyo did not stay long at the SLMC, and proceeded immediately to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) headquarters in Manila after the checkup, the report said. On December 16 last year, President Arroyo went to St Luke's Hospital "for a checkup due to symptoms of apparent pharyngitis" after suffering from a sore throat. She arrived past 7 p.m. but left before 9:30 p.m. in a presidential convoy. On November 2007, Mrs Arroyo underwent a comprehensive executive checkup at the said hospital along with her husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo. She underwent a two-day medical exam also at St. Luke’s in November 2006. Mrs Arroyo was hospitalized twice in 2006, in June and July, for diarrhea and a fever, respectively. In her July hospital visit, doctors said the President suffered from fatty liver. - GMANews.TV
