'Ambo' tames fiery days in parts of Luzon

Tropical depression "Ambo" may be a threat to the Visayas and Mindanao regions, but it's going to give some relief to Metro Manila and a few other places in Luzon, where it has brought down temperatures and delayed the predicted scorchers this week. Thus Metro Manila's hottest temperature would be 33 degrees Celsius instead of the predicted 36 from Tuesday to Friday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). Tuguegarao's temperature, which would have been the hottest so far this year at 38 degrees, would go up to 36 degrees on Thursday, and 35 on Wednesday and Friday. Baguio City, the nation's summer capital, would be relatively cooler at 24 degrees on Tuesday and 25 degrees from Wednesday to Friday. On the other hand, the Subic-Zambales area will remain hot at 36 degrees on Tuesday, and 35 from Wednesday to Friday. Tagaytay City in Batangas and Puerto Princesa City in Palawan will experience temperatures of 28 to 30 degrees this week, but Puerto Princesa may experience rains and gusty winds due to tropical depression "Ambo." In its 5 p.m. advisory, Pagasa said southern part of Negros, Iloilo, and Antique, along with Guimaras Island, Palawan and Cuyo Island, will experience rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Southern Luzon, rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds blowing from the east and southeast will prevail over Luzon and the rest of Visayas and coming from the southwest and southeast over the rest of the country.
