Suspected NPA rebels attack Globe cell site in Albay

MANILA, Philippines - Suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels burned a cell site of Globe Telecoms in Albay province, a report said Monday. Radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. said the attack occurred at the telecoms’ transmitter at Buang village in Tabaco City. Armed men reportedly entered the compound where the transmitter was located by destroying the perimeter wire fence while the cell site’s personnel were having dinner. According to the caretaker, the attackers had already set the site on fire when he returned. The suspects reportedly fired shots to keep the caretaker away, the report said. Recovered from the site were four empty shells and ammunition of M-16 rifles. - GMANews.TV
