Nograles names Agyao as Mountain Province caretaker

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - Speaker Prospero Nograles named Kalinga Rep. Manuel S. Agyao as caretaker of Mountain Province following the untimely death last February 8 of Rep. Victor Dominguez. Nograles said "congressional tradition" was followed because Agyao is the choice of the Dominguez family, not Baguio Rep. Mauricio Domogan, who was recommended by Governor Maximo Dalog and other politicians in the area. Agyao belongs to the Kampi party while Domogan and most of the Cordillera congressmen belong to the Lakas or the Liberal parties. Agyao is former regional director of the Department of Public Works and Highway. Nograles said holding a special election for the Mountain Province would be expensive. Dominguez, the acknowledged patriarch of politics in the province, succumbed to cardiac arrest with complications of diabetes at the age of 72. - GMANews.TV
