2 hurt as fire hits firecracker factory in Cavite


MANILA, Philippines - Two people were reported hurt after a fire hit a firecracker factory in Imus town in Cavite province Friday afternoon. Cavite provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Hernando Zafra cited sketchy initial reports indicating at least two people suffered "minor" injuries. "Wala namang namatay, may na-minor injuries pero wala pang pangalan (There was no death or serious injury)," Zafra said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said initial reports indicated the fire took place at Bucandala V village in Imus town at 1:45 p.m. A separate report from QTV's Live on Q quoted Police Officer 3 Eddie Gordo of Imus Police as saying that a lightning hit a parked vehicle near the factory. The sparks reportedly flew to the firecrackers causing the blaze. The television report said two more vehicles were burned aside from the one hit by lightning but no one was injured.
