Despite shooting a 12-over 86, because of two infractions, Sunny Choi topped the girls' Class C division of the MEDCO Indonesia Junior Championship at the Jagorawi Golf Club in Jakarta.

The Korean, who represented the Philippines in the tournament, was penalized four strokes during the last round. Cho, playing at the 12th, accidentally hit her ball while addressing herself for a putt (2 strokes). She was again penalized(2 strokes) while on the 17th after accidentally hitting an opponent's ball. The 11-year-old Korea native, who was recruited early January by coach Bong Lopez as an understudy in his team, netted a 249 (84-79-86). She had a better final round (86) to win by count-back over Indonesian Hashila Rival (88-249). "I'm very happy because this is my first victory. I hope I can bring more home trophies for the country," said Choi whose father is currently based and doing business in Davao City.
