PNP: 13 suspected hijackers fall in Valenzuela City

The police have arrested 13 alleged members of a hijacking gang in Valenzuela City and recovered some P2.5 million worth of stolen industrial raw materials on Tuesday. An article posted on the Philippine National Police website Wednesday said the raw materials are used to manufacture household plastic products. The suspects arrested were:

  • Don Lee;
  • Ariel Alvarado;
  • Jorge Pellazar;
  • Joleto Miranda;
  • Randy Katipunan;
  • Ariel Alcomendas;
  • Bobby Rivera;
  • Bonifacio Sagusay;
  • Jolito Sagusay;
  • Reynaldo Chu, and
  • Rodel Botrol. In a follow-up operation in a compound in Brgy. Libtong, Meycauayan, Bulacan, two more suspects were arrested:
  • Mamerto Reambillo, and
  • Cesar Cabansag. The police found in the Bulacan compound a stolen tractor head (with plate number UEX 376) and other trucks allegedly being cannibalized. Operatives of the Highway Patrol Group Special Operations Division (HPG-SOD) under Superintendent Ronald Lee intercepted three trucks allegedly loaded with some 1,000 bags of "TALriPRO" plastic resin chemicals at the First Malinta Industrial Subdivision in Valenzuela City. PNP HPG Director Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said the intercepted cargo was reportedly part of a shipment of industrial chemicals aboard a 40-foot container van and hauled by a tractor head (with plate number UEX 376). The truck had reportedly been hijacked on October 23 along Capulong Street in Tondo, Manila. Espina said the HPG-SOD traced the stolen cargo to Valenzuela City, where the plastic raw materials were being sold. –VVP, GMANews.TV
