Hackers deface PNRI website anew, take stab at gov't corruption

For several house early Thursday, hackers defaced anew the website of the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI), and left a message accusing another government agency of corruption. The "PrivateX" group redirected visitors to the PNRI website (www.pnri.dost.gov.ph) to a custom Pastehtml page featuring its logo.

A screenshot of the defaced PNRI website. The hack by the group PrivateX accused the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas of corruption.
"Message : LTO REGION 7 & Operations OFFICE MAGNANAKAW KURAKOT (Land Transportation Office Region 7 and Operations Office, thieves)!!!!" it said in its latest cyberattack. It was not immediately clear if the group's accusation against LTO Region 7 (Central Visayas) indicated its members are from that region. The rest of the group's message in the redirected site was similar to its past messages: "Nothing was harmed except your integrity... Corruption, lack of education, and lack of opportunity." PrivateX had claimed responsibility for hack attacks on the sites of the Office of the Vice President and the PNRI. In its defacing of the PNRI website but claimed to support President Benigno Aquino III and his State of the Nation Address (SONA). The PNRI website was back online by 10am. — TJD, GMA News
