Fil-Am Friendship Day slated for July 5


VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — The Fil-Am Friendship Day is scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Red Wing Park, 1398 General Booth Blvd. in Virginia Beach, VA from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year’s theme is “One voice, one vision – unity." Since 1971, FilAm Friendship Day has served as a catalyst in unifying the local community of Hampton Roads and in promoting the unique Filipino culture. For the last six years, Chairman Joe Ortega has tackled the ever-growing task of creating a bigger and better FilAm Friendship Day as the year prior. FilAm Friendship Day is famous for its past entertainment, exciting activities, cultural foods, and fun for the entire family. Last year’s event boasted an impressive entertainment schedule which included local musical and dance performers as well as locally and nationally-recognized comedic acts. This year’s lineup is shaping up to be one of the best. Confirmed entertainment includes musical acts: The Speaks, The Happy Analogues, Bleud, Teddy Reyes, Flip d’Skript, Mike Swift and comedians Air Tabigue and Chris Turnage. Also scheduled to appear is a surprise guest who is a well-known Filipino comedian. Local organizations affiliated with the Philippine Cultural Center of Virginia Beach will be providing a wide variety of food selections, which are stationed throughout the park.
