7 killed in Bataan road accident — police

At least seven people, two of them Koreans, were killed in a road accident involving a van, a tricycle and a bus in Bataan province late Tuesday. Police said most of the victims were on a Kia service van that collided with a Genesis passenger bus after hitting a tricycle in Limay town. "Bale ayon sa report, nabangga ng Kia ang tricycle tapos nakasalubong ang Genesis na bus. Pito ang patay sa van (Initial reports showed the Kia van hit the tricycle then collided head-on with the Genesis bus. Seven were killed in the accident)," PO1 Sonny Bravante of the Limay town police said in an interview on dzBB radio early Wednesday.

The other passengers of the van were rushed to a nearby hospital. At least one was in critical condition, he said. He added that the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. Tuesday. Citing initial reports, Bravante said the fatalities were the driver of the Kia van and two Koreans. He did not give their names, however. On the other hand, he said police have taken into custody the driver of the bus. He did not name the driver. Investigation showed the Kia van in the incident was a service vehicle for a local factory. On Tuesday afternoon, two people were killed while another one was wounded in a road accident in Tayabas town in the southern Luzon province of Quezon, in a smashup involving a 10-wheeler truck and a car, according to a police report.
