Ivler spends 'peaceful' 1st night at QC jail — officials

Road rage suspect Jason Ivler spent a relatively quiet first night at the Quezon City Jail following his transfer there Tuesday afternoon. A report by radio dzBB's Manny Vargas on Wednesday quoted Quezon City Jail warden Superintendent Nestor Velasquez as saying that Ivler presented no problems so far. Velasquez said Ivler shared the jail's international cell with more than 20 foreign inmates. On the other hand, the dzBB report said there was no sign of Ivler's mother Marlene Aguilar-Pollard at the jail as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. Aguilar-Pollard had vowed to march daily near the jail while her son is incarcerated there. Ivler is the main suspect in the road rage killing of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. last year. He was arrested and wounded after shooting it out with the National Bureau of Investigation last January 18 in his Quezon City home. Prior to Ebarle Jr.'s killing, Ivler was already facing a homicide through reckless imprudence case for the death of Malacañang Undersecretary Nestor Ponce Jr. in August 2004. The case is pending at the Pasig City Regional Trial Court. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
