Report: Business rivalry likely motive in killing of BSP brod, 2 others

One month after the incident, police are looking into a business rivalry as the most likely motive behind the killing of the brother of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco and two others in Pampanga. A report on dwIZ radio Wednesday said the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Luzon is zeroing in on this angle after interviewing more than 20 people. CIDG-3 head Senior Superintendent Marvin Bolabola, head of the task force investigating the incident, said their investigation is "90 percent completed" so far. Investigators had initially zeroed in on three motives behind the murders of Tetangco’s brother Rene, trader Florencio Yap, and Yap’s aide Dennis Guinto. Rene Tetangco is also the uncle of Apalit, Pampanga Mayor Jun Tetangco, while Yap is the son of the owner of a local hardware store. Bolabola said among those who gave testimonies was Bacolor, Pampanga Mayor Jomar Hizon, one of the last to talk to Yap. He said Hizon claimed he talked to Yap a day before the murder but what they discussed was mainly about cockfighting. The bodies of the three victims were found in a Ford Expedition SUV. Police initially suspected robbery, gambling and business rivalry as possible motives.
