Caloocan councilman's suspected killer falls in Isabela

After being given away by a photograph – and then by his own girlfriend – the alleged gunman who was photographed while shooting a Caloocan City barangay (village) councilman last New Year's Day was arrested Thursday in Isabela province. GMA's late-night news program Saksi on Thursday reported that police arrested Arnel Buenaflor in Kalabaza village in Aurora town in Isabela, less than a week after the killing of councilman Reynaldo Dagsa. Buenaflor was linked to the killing of Dagsa, who at the time was taking photos of his family and accidentally photographed the gunman taking aim at him with a cal.-45 handgun. An investigation showed Buenaflor fled with his girlfriend and another woman, but police had managed to track down his girlfriend, who informed police where he was hiding. The report said Buenaflor was already subjected to police investigation. Earlier reports said Buenaflor and at least four suspects – Michael Rullon, Frederick Sales, Rommel Oliva, and Francis Bronjal – were charged with murder for the crime. Police believe the suspects had a run-in with Dagsa, a witness in another criminal case. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
