122 Vietnamese fishermen nabbed off Palawan

A total of 122 Vietnamese nationals on board seven fishing vessels were arrested Monday off Balabac town in Palawan, a police report said. The vessels were spotted at around 3:27 p.m. by a composite team of police and Navy personnel. The vessels were docked at Barangay Poblacion 4 pending an investigation, the police report said. Two years ago, 11 crew members of a Vietnamese fishing vessel were caught off Batanes province in Northern Luzon. The Vietnamese were taking corals and marine resources from the Batanes waters using compressors, according to investigations. Bea Cupin/KBK, GMA News
