Phivolcs: 2 predawn quakes hit Zambales


At least two predawn quakes were recorded in Zambales province early Wednesday morning, a day after a magnitude-5.9 quake that jolted the area was felt in neighboring areas including Metro Manila. But the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said there was no damage or aftershock expected from the quakes. The first quake was measured at magnitude 2.3 and was recorded at 12:57 a.m. Its epicenter was 17 km southeast of Iba, Zambales. A second quake measuring magnitude 3.6 was recorded at 3:57 a.m., with the epicenter at 22 km southeast of Iba, Zambales. On Tuesday, at least three aftershocks had hit the Zambales area following the magnitude-5.9 quake. — RSJ, GMA News
