Solon denies beating Technohub security guard

Lanao del Sur Rep. Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman, who was embroiled in a mauling incident at a golf course in 2009, on Monday denied his alleged involvement in punching another person in Quezon City last week. A security guard from Eagle Watch agency, Ricardo Binayog, on Wednesday said a congressman “boxed" him several times to the ground at the UP-Ayala Technohub in Quezon City. Bonayog said the solon “got irked… with reasons of his own" after alighting from a Porsche Carrera at 4:30 p.m. that day. Bonayog did not specifically identify the accused solon in the report he filed at the Quezon City Police District. But in a media briefing Monday, Pangandaman came out to deny that he mauled the security guard. “These are false accusations. Ewan ko kung saan sila nakakuha ng ganitong istorya para i-malign ang pangalan ko," the congressman said. 'Walang bugbugan' Pangandaman said the guard repeatedly uttered expletives after seeing his car, which has the protocol plate number “8" assigned to members of the House of Representatives, as it entered the Technohub’s parking lot. “I was asking in a civilized manner what the problem was, but he was about to draw his firearm," Pangandaman said. The lawmaker said this prompted him to hit the guard with rolled-up pieces of paper that he was holding at that time. “Walang bugbugan," Pangandaman explained. Asked why he thinks the guard tried to pull out the gun, Pangandaman answered, “Hindi natin alam what was going on in his mind." The lawmaker added that he is planning to file harassment charges against Bonayog. In 2009, Pangandaman, along with his brother Nasser Jr. and their bodyguards, was charged for allegedly mauling Delfin dela Paz and his son in an exclusive golf course in Antipolo City. “Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako," Nasser Jr. was quoted by Dela Paz’s daughter, Bambi, as telling his caddy after a conflict over golf course rules. Pangandaman has repeatedly denied the incident, even filing counter-charges for physical injuries and threats against dela Paz. — PE/VS, GMA News
