Rep. Romulo, Shalani may tie knot early 2012

Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo on Wednesday confirmed his engagement with television host and Valenzula City Councilor Shalani Soledad, an ex-girlfriend of President Benigno Aquino III. “That was an engagement ring. I asked her to marry me a week ago," said Romulo, son of former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, in a phone interview. He said the wedding may take place early next year. Reports that the two politicians were dating started coming out early this month after they were seen together twice at the Baclaran Church and The Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati. (Read: PNoy’s ex-gf Shalani Soledad is reportedly dating a congressman) The 44-year old Romulo said some of his friends have said his engagement with Soledad, 31, may be “too soon" but he dismissed their concerns. “I think we’re both old enough to know what we want in life. Siya ang nahanap ko," he said. “We can talk to each other for hours, kahit kaming dalawa lang. We have never been this happy," he added. Soledad rose to national prominence after actively campaigning for Aquino in the 2010 elections.
