Palace commends govt agencies, LGUs for peaceful Undas

Malacañang on Wednesday commended government agencies and local government units for ensuring the safety of citizens during the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. In a press statement, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Philippine National Police assessed that the observance of ‘Undas’ was generally peaceful with several incidents immediately attended to by the agencies concerned. “We commend the efforts of PNP, DOTC (Department of Transportation and Communications), DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government), DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways), AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), PCG (Philippine Coast Guard), MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority), and local government units in ensuring the safety of our citizens nationwide and minimizing incidents that would have marred the solemn observance of the holiday," she said. On Tuesday, Metro Manila police head Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said police personnel will remain on full alert even after All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days to keep watch over thoroughfares and bus terminals for the return of Metro Manilans from the provinces. He said no major incident disrupted this year's commemoration of All Saints' and All Souls' Days. — Amita O. Legaspi/KBK, GMA News
