DILG to ensure tight security for SC en banc session

On orders of President Benigno Aquino III, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will ensure tight security for the Supreme Court's en banc session Friday where it will tackle the right of former President Gloria Arroyo to go abroad for "medical" purposes. DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo said Aquino does not want anything untoward to happen during the banc session, radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported. Aquino left for Indonesia to attend a summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) but met briefly with some Cabinet members before leaving. The report quoted Robredo as saying he will order the Philippine National Police to be ready for any situation during Friday's event. He also noted supporters of both Arroyo and the Aquino administration may be expected at Friday's en banc session, where the high court is to tackle the issues involving the temporary restraining order it issued against a watch-list order on Arroyo. Despite the TRO, Arroyo was barred from leaving the country Tuesday night. But her camp said she may attempt to leave again on Friday. — LBG, GMA News
